./configure && make
results in link-time errors:
util/libutil.a(encoding.o): In function `gzip_open':
/home/jupp/IN/elinks-0.4pre19/src/util/encoding.c:94: undefined reference to `gzdopen'
util/libutil.a(encoding.o): In function `gzip_read':
/home/jupp/IN/elinks-0.4pre19/src/util/encoding.c:103: undefined reference to `gzread'
util/libutil.a(encoding.o): In function `gzip_close':
/home/jupp/IN/elinks-0.4pre19/src/util/encoding.c:109: undefined reference to `gzclose'
Manually adding '-lz' to 'LIBS' doesn't change that, I have to use
'--without-zlib' (Linux 2.0.30 - yes, really ;-)

I was deeply shocked by learning that a Windows XP Pro Recovery CD at
39,- EUR is a pirated copy. Does this mean that my Linux distribution
which did cost less and has more features is a pirated copy as well?
