gawk 3.1.7 make check error

I'm following the LFS book ver. 6.5. and got stuck at chapter  5.20.1.
Installation of Gawk.

The make check command fails stack overflow 2 test:

My system configuration:
motherboard with Intel 5500 Chipset
Intel Xeon E5506 processor 64-bit
6GB of RAM
2x 1TB SATA hard drives on Intel ICH10 RAID1 (Adaptec mode)
Ubuntu Desktop 9.10 64-bit host system

Any ideas on how to deal with the failure? Thanks.
