When file is used a little Merlin guy shows up
with the poof sound(magic).
just messn... :^)

 From 6.36.2
it states:(at the bottom of the page)

*file*

Tries to classify each given file; it does this by performing several
tests—file system tests, magic number tests, and language tests

|libmagic|

Contains routines for magic number recognition, used by the *file* program

This is as much info as I know(google came up with little
hits).
