As I said, follow the book. The things I suggested might not be valid.
/dev/console and /dev/null are required if DEVTMPFS_MOUNT isn't enabled
in the kernel and we don't require the option on the kernel config page
so they are still necessary for the situations that are described when
the nodes are created - booting with init=/bin/bash.
As for devpts, it seems to work fine for most cases and it will fail
only if gid of the tty group is different on the host. I am not sure
what was decided for that.
And yet no one seemed to be interested as mounting a tmpfs on /run
during build since it doesn't matter that much if it's empty or not.
