Stripping Debug Symbols

I started stripping the debug symbols from my system, but it locked
up on one of the files in /proc (I assume it wouldn't find anything
and just skip them all). /proc/kmsg just sat there. I killed the
strip process from another terminal and it seems to be working fine.

Is this normal/expected? If so could the line in Chap. 9 be changed
to exclude /proc?
