Glibc (another problem)

Here is the last few lines after running make without the -d option. does this give enough info to get help? Is this a "core dump"? "Error 2" is rather non-informative.

make -C debug subdir_lib
make[2]: Entering directory `/mnt/hdc5/usr/src/glibc-2.1.3/debug'
../Makerules:622: *** multiple target patterns. Stop.
make[2]: Leaving directory `/mnt/hdc5/usr/src/glibc-2.1.3/debug'
make[1]: *** [debug/subdir_lib] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/mnt/hdc5/usr/src/glibc-2.1.3'
make: *** [all] Error 2

Thanks for the clue!
