I *think* the k6 amd cpu's are equivalent to pentiums with mmx, not
ppros or p2/3's... so perhaps the only probs would be where you could
enable mtrr support in the kernel, and other types of things like that. 
So I think for building a kernel, do it as a i586 with no mtrr support.
