Hi:

Hints in the previous format have been moved around based on the 
previous discussion. Currently there are no hints in the root directory. 
If I have moved a file to the incorrect location, do let me know.

The following directories exist in the CVS (have choosen caps for dir 
names so that they show up at the top of the list when viewing online).

    * HOLD: Hints who status is undecided or being integrated into one
      of the books.
    * PREVIOUS-FORMAT: Hints that are in the old format and need to be
      converted to the new format.
    * OLD: Hints that have been retired.

If you are doing a cvs checkout, use the -P option to remove empty 
directories old/ and previous-format/ since they are empty.

I have contacted (using a standard template mail - apologies if some 
found it too impersonal, but that was the only way I could finish all 
the hints ASAP) the authors of hints that need updating to the new 
format. My apologies in case I have missed somone.

I will start committing the hints in new format now.

The following is the current status of the hints that need to be 
converted. If there is something missing from the list, do let me know. 
("Conversion in progress" indicates that the author has responded that 
he/she is converting the hint or has already converted the hint. "No 
response from author" indicates that the author has not responded to my 
hails or that the discussion on the process. "Could not contact author" 
indicates that either the e-mail address was not mentioned in the hint 
or the e-mail address in the hint is not currently active. "Undecided" 
indicates that the status of the hint is still under discussion.) If you 
or someone you know belongs the "Could not contact author" category, 
please drop a line to this list.
