What version of ELinks are you using?

Try disabling clock and LEDs under the Setup -> Options manager -> User
Interface.  Also, you can check that you don't have a timer enabled
(User Interface -> Timer options -> Enable), but it shouldn't be unless
you explicitly configured it to be.
