DVD/RW troubles

Hello All,

Ive been trying to fill a udf packet DVD+RW with files in order to have 
a space from which I can burn a DVDR as
an archive. Things seemed to be going fine until:

bash-3.2# pktsetup 0 /dev/hdd
bash-3.2# mount /dev/pktcdvd/0 /mnt/dvdrw
bash-3.2# cd /mnt/dvdrw
bash-3.2# ls -l
ls: cannot access lost+found: Permission denied
ls: cannot access aebn: Permission denied
total 0
?????????? ? ?    ?      ?                ? aebn
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root  88 2008-05-25 05:44 bgeast
drwxr-xr-x 3 john root  84 2007-12-27 10:56 john-backup
?????????? ? ?    ?      ?                ? lost+found
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 280 2008-01-05 19:04 palm-ware
bash-3.2# chmod -R 777 aebn lost+found
chmod: cannot access `aebn': Permission denied
chmod: cannot access `lost+found': Permission denied
 

You can see I tried the obvious fix with no result. Do I have a coaster 
on my hands?
