Hi,

I've just upgraded to kernel 2.6.5 from 2.4.20, successfully, but have lost DMA on my hard drive, despite all the previous config options being selected. I have a PIII Coppermine.

hdparm /dev/hda gives:

/dev/hda:
 multcount    =  0 (off)
 I/O support  =  3 (32-bit w/sync)
 unmaskirq    =  0 (off)
 using_dma    =  0 (off)
 keepsettings =  0 (off)
 nowerr       =  0 (off)
 readonly     =  0 (off)
 readahead    = 256 (on)
 HDIO_GETGEO_BIG failed: Invalid argument

hdparm -d1 /dev/hda gives:

/dev/hda:
 setting using_dma to 1 (on)
 HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted
 using_dma    =  0 (off)

I've trawled through other options in the kernel to get this turned on, without success. Any ideas??

thanks

MAC
