XFree KDE and mouse buttons

Hi,

my good old mouse gave up and so I had to buy a new one. This nice thing has
two scroll wheels and 5 buttons. I got the first 3 buttons and the 2 scroll
wheels to work.
But how can I make use of buttons 4 and 5 in KDE? I'd like to bind some apps
or gestures (i.e. double click) to them. Is this possible? (XFree 4.3.0, KDE
3.1.0)

Just for completeness, here are some lines from /etc/X11/XF86Config:
------------------------
Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "Mouse"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
    Option "Device" "/dev/gpmdata"
    Option "Buttons" "9"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7 8 9"
EndSection
------------------------
and /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/Xmodmap:
------------------------
pointer = 1 2 3 8 9 4 5 6 7
------------------------
--
----------------------------------------------------------------------
%> ln -s /dev/null /dev/brain
%> ln -s /dev/urandom /dev/world
%> dd if=/dev/world of=/dev/brain
