Problems compiling AIDE

Hi!

I've unsuccessfully tried to compile AIDE ver 0.7 on my LFS 3pre1 box, but
it always dies... so if someone could take a look at this and give me some
pointers I would much apprecaite it.

this is what I do to configure/compile it

./configure --with-zlib --with-gnu-regexp && make

and this is what it tells me (which I don't really understand what it
means)

	<SNIP stuff that compiles ok>

gcc  -g -O2 -static -o aide  conf_yacc.o conf_lex.o getopt.o getopt1.o
gnu_regex.o error.o db.o commandconf.o db_file.o db_lex.o db_sql.o
gen_list.o list.o do_md.o base64.o symboltable.o compare_db.o be.o util.o
aide.o crypt/libcipher.a -lcrypt -lz
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lz
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[3]: *** [aide] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/aide-0.7/src'
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/aide-0.7/src'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/aide-0.7'
make: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2

	Sincerely,
	Kristoffer
