problems with X and XF86

I followed the instructions "Installing XFree86 4.1.0 using the Xinstall.sh
script".
(as per "http://www.xfree86.org/4.1.0/Install3.html").  All this was done in
lfs, i.e. I booted into lfs and run the command from there - not from the
chrooted environment.  I was able (eventually - after I found the file) to
configure XF86 - mouse, monitor, video card etc.  I'm not entirely confident
that I'm answering your question.
