Wierd - can't login as root.

	Perhaps you don't have the right entries in any of the
files /etc/securetty , /etc/login.access or /etc/login.defs.

	Read the man pages of each file:
	
	man securetty
	man login.access
	man login.defs
		(especially the CONSOLE line)
